Our People

FPM was founded by Kevin Ford in 2001 to provide high quality management, leadership and organisational development to the public service sector.  A leading thinker and commentator on the future of public service provision in the UK, Kevin has written more than 20 publications on the governance, leadership and management of public and voluntary services.

A qualified accountant, Deirdre Waller oversees all of FPM’s training programmes and has managed the development and delivery of over 100 workforce development programmes for nearly 20,000 practitioners and staff in all local authorities in England and over 1,600 voluntary organisations.

John Thurlbeck, John Papworth,  Bill Badham, Harriet Gore and John Walker lead our work in the creation of community and employee owned public service mutuals in the UK. All have extensive experience of services for young people.

David Gilbert and Mark Doughty from the Centre for Patient Leadership are at the forefront of developing a new generation of healthcare leadership, in line with recommendations in the Francis Report, and work closely with FPM on this agenda.

Abby Sharpe is FPM’s Operations Manager. She recruits, oversees and manages FPM’s team of specialist consultants, researchers, developers and trainers.
